This must be one of my favorite books of 2014! Beyond Love by Barbra J. Duell knows what her audience wants to read. If two people are destined to meet, I believe God provides the gateway. It is all in his timing not ours. When eight-year-old David Hampton ran away from home, he was almost hit by a car which a lady rescued him. I don’t know about you but I remember being eight years old and hating life and my parents and wanting to run away. Since David Hampton does not have a mom, he dreams of having one. I know when my mom died, all I ever wanted was a mom as well. It is very realistic that the rescue was planned by God. David’s dad is a professor and a meeting took place where as they both looked at one another “time seemed to stop.” Do you believe in love at first sight? This book will draw you in and take you page by page until you reach the ending. Will this be a marriage destined by God or will the couple just have a journey in love and romance? It’s one book you have to pick up in 2014! I love the cover of this book! The couple going to kiss the house in the background makes me want to read it and find out what Love has in store for this eight-year-old boy and the single father whom needs attention, love, and a family.

It is sweet and light with just enough oomph to keep it interesting.The story itself is pretty typical, boy meets girl, boy is attracted to girl, boy and girl fight like cats and dogs, boy wins girl? Well, maybe.
What I liked were the extras that were thrown in. Michael, a young widow who has been taking some time off to recuperate from the storms that life has thrown at her, is anything but mild and retiring. She meets young David as he is taking an unapproved trip to see his grandma. When Michael finally meets Richard, David’s dad, the sparks begin to fly. Now, David and Richard are both accustomed to having their way, so when they decide that Michael should become the new Nanny…. Well, Michael is swept into the family dynamic. This family will never be the same!
Ms. Duell is an excellent writer who handles the conflict between Michael and Richard very well. The characters she has created are believable, as are the situations that they find themselves in. She handles conflict, romance, friendship, and love with a deft pen that will keep you involved right up to the very end. Recommend!

What does it take to move beyond the “in love” stage to the “lasting love” stage? Trust. It’s something that doesn’t come easily to the heroine of this story OR to the hero. From the moment Michael, the woman with the man’s name, rescues David, the hero’s son, and berates the hero himself (Richard) for not being there for his child, these two lock horns and battle almost to the end to reach beyond the passion, and yes, the love they also feel for one another, to find the kind of trust that will carry them through. I won’t spoil the ending for you, but it’s definitely an “awww” moment. I absolutely loved this story and I highly recommend the read!
