Review by Denzel: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Well written and suspenseful. Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2023. Verified Purchase. A new evolution of humanity is discovered in young children. Are they a threat or our hope for the future? Follow along as the subject becomes polarized and you don’t know who to trust.

Reviews by Art Maurer: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Enjoyable…Hard to put down. Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2023. Verified Purchase. Solid, believable, characters and consistent pacing engage the reader and make this book hard to put down. Is it fiction or just prescient of a future coming soon? It makes for great reading and, importantly challenges one to think. Although Artificial Intelligence isn’t mentioned, one can consider living with AI may bring a story like this to reality.

Review by Derrick: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Fun. Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2023. This was such a fun book to read with really great characters. I immediately fell in love with all the kids! I thought K was super cool too. The story pulled me in right from page one. The author does a great job of getting the reader to care deeply for the kids in the story. The villains are also very well written! There’s one in particular who’s just downright awful and I spent much of the time wishing horrible things would happen to him. I felt bad for the parents of some of the kids because they were so clueless as to what was going on.

I thought the author did a good job at creating the world in which the story takes place. The descriptions are vivid and it was easy to imagine what the characters were seeing, hearing, and feeling.

Overall I thought this was a great book with compelling characters and an intriguing story.

A huge thank you needs to go out to the author for allowing me the honor of being a beta reader for this book. I look forward to reading the next book by him. He never disappoints!

Review by Bridget Ball: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Double recommend it if you are a parent! Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2023. What would we do if our children were suddenly more advanced than us? In Species II, a new novel by Nick Iuppa, kids all over the world are rapidly developing special powers. They communicate telepathically and can move objects with their minds. As fear grips the adults, they begin to contemplate an unspeakable alternative before they end up taking over and ruling our planet.

This novel will intrigue you scientifically and as a human being. As always, I enjoyed the environmental Easter eggs scattered throughout the novel. The cast of characters are entertaining, especially the radio show host who reminds me of several popular ones as of late. The chapters are short and easy to follow which makes it perfect for reading on a lunch break.

I recommend this book for fans of superheroes and Outbreak. It is a wonderful blend of sci-fi and fantasy that people of multiple generations will enjoy but I double recommend it if you are a parent. This book should be read right after you’ve put your kids to bed, but don’t dwell on it too much before yoi’ve turned in for the night

Review by Henry Shilell: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. We homo sapiens may soon be replaced. Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2023. Outstanding story about children around the world who are gifted with mental abilities none of us humans possess. With their minds they can communicate with one another without speaking, they can control machines and even drive vehicles without being in the driver’s seat. They can also fly without wings or having to be attached to a flying machine of some sort. Of course all of these fascinating abilities frighten many people who, fearing for their lives, want to exterminate them from the planet but until they’re gone, if ever, they will definitely be the next variation of we homo sapiens as their numbers mount with them eventually taking over the world. A great read from beginning to end.

Review by DT: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Intriguing premise. Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2023. Nick Iuppa always manages to come up with the most intriguing premises. This one is about kids around the world who are displaying unique abilities that a university researcher believes is the next step in evolution. She studies and attempts to protect them as a conservative podcaster strives to stir up his followers to eliminate these kids. I like that Iuppa always has a diverse cast of characters, and I really enjoyed this story. There was a bit of humor as well which is always fun. I had no idea how it would end, but you could feel the tension building. My only complaint about his books is that the scenes are too short. Otherwise, a great read!
