From The Author: I created this collection to finish a short story that was featured in another collection, An Angel Among Us, called The Well. A reader mentioned that she wanted more from the short stories which prompted me to continue this tale in the new book.
I enjoyed creating these stories to complete ‘The Well’ that I may do some more of these collections to finish other short stories. I hope readers will enjoy this collection.
About The Author: This is the 52nd book I have published!! I am not finished yet! I have been writing since I was a young child but didn’t begin publishing my first book until 2013. There are so many stories circling around in my brain that I am compelled to write them down and publish them before they are lost forever. My husband is my support, illustrator and cover creator. I couldn’t do all this without him in my corner. I plan to keep writing, publishing and connecting with readers to provide them with entertaining reading. My goal is to encourage all ages to read daily to enhance their health and wellbeing. I love to hear from readers and welcome and appreciate reviews that help spread the word about my books. THE OLD FARMHOUSE: The old farmhouse sits on sixty acres of beautiful prime farmland. The perfect place to get away, raise a family and have some animals. This land has had some owners over the years. Some say the land is haunted.
THE YOUNG FAMILY: Many years later the farmhouse was sold to another family. The young family couldn’t believe their luck finding this beautiful lot for such a low price. The realtor mumbled something about ghosts, but the price was too low to pass up.
THE FAIRY IN THE WELL: Two little girls, Jessica and Sarah, lived on a farm with their mother and father. One day the girls were so busy chasing a butterfly. That is when Sarah suddenly disappeared from Jessica’s view.
THE OLD WOMAN: Jessica wasn’t as agile as she once was, but she managed to keep her house in order, garden growing, and flowers fed and watered. Her husband did the best he could also. Her children used to talk about a fairy on the land, but she believed it was just their imagination. Since her husband died, there were more unusual things happening.
THE STORY CONTINUES….
TWO: Two days later Savannah and her three boys Nick, Jesse, and Aaron arrived. The boys went right to the TV and turned it on after hugging and kissing their grandmother. Jessica shook her head and said, “I can’t believe they love TV that much. I thought they were excited about exploring my yard.” Soon the sounds of children’s voices echo through the acres and reach the old well.
THREE: Savannah raced through the copse (coppice) as quickly as she could. Branches snapped and scratched at her arms and legs as she pushed them aside. The trees were so thick that there was little light to illuminate the way for her.
She repeatedly called out to her boys, “Where are you, Nick, Jesse, and Aaron? Please come out. You need to return to your grandmother’s house right away.”
The boys were deep in the woods where the sounds did not carry as they continued to chase the squirrel until it went into its hole in the ground.
FOUR: Who will guard the well for eternity?
