Suspense and Fictional Romance Thrillers by Author Linda Burson.
The Colors of My Life by Linda Burson.
A married woman, Caylie Lyon, finds herself in the middle of a bank robbery and gets taken hostage by the five robbers. Her ordeal starts off as a scary event, but ends up with her forming a close relationship with one of the robbers named Cole.
When the five criminals are caught in the act of another robbery, Caylie is freed only to return to a different life than the one she left. Eventually, Caylie reunites with Cole when he is released from prison. His plan is to go after the company he used to work for. They’re the reason he turned to robbery. They destroyed his construction business and murdered his only brother. When the owners of the company find out Cole’s plan, Caylie seems to find herself in danger.
5 Stars: Danger Intertwined with Romance
Who ever said that “Lightening doesn’t strike the same place twice” never met Caylie Lyon.
The story opens with Caylie and her husband, Nolan, waiting in the Vanity Falls Savings Bank in Vanity Falls, Maine to close on their new house. Haunted by her frightening ordeal in a grocery store robbery in 2009, Caylie Lyon’s increased awareness of her surroundings tells her something just isn’t right. What happens next, is surreal.
Survival for fifty-two-year-old Caylie will depend on her instincts, perceptiveness, and strangely enough, her infatuation with actor Landon Cordell, not to mention luck.
Even when justice is in motion, strange situations arise. Romance and new dangers take surprising twists and turns in The Colors of My Life by Linda Burson. This is an entertaining read with some strong language.
I enjoyed the story. If you love suspense and fictional romance, you will want to read The Colors of My Life. Also, Author Linda Burson has a 13-book suspense, romantic thriller entitled The Marcy Series, along with a couple of other single title novels.

The story The Colors Of My Life by Linda Burson is a romantic suspense book. This is a book that I enjoyed reading. It is a story that details the relationship between two people who are brought together because of a bank robbery and how a connection between them is formed and maintained. This is the story of Caylie and Cole. Caylie finds herself in the middle of a bank robbery and is taken hostage by the robbers. Although she is scared and unsure of what is going to happen to her, she finds she can talk to one of the robbers, Cole. During her captivity Cole opens up to Caylie about his life and why he turned to robbery. They both begin to feel a deep connection to each other. It is when these men try to commit another robbery and get caught that Caylie is able to return to her previous life. However, it is one that is quite different than the one she had. Still feeling that connection Caylie and Cole stay in touch when he is in prison and when he is released, she is the one he returns to. Now Cole is determined to make the company that he used to work for pay for the harm they have done. They are responsible for both the downturn in his life and the death of his brother. Once his intentions are known strange things begin to happen involving Caylie. Will Cole be able to keep Caylie safe? Are the owners of the company that Cole is going after responsible for the danger Caylie is in?
This is a wonderful story that had me quickly turning pages to find out what happened next. It is an unusual love story and I found myself not able to put it down until I finished. I just had to know what happens. Will Cole and Caylie’s story have a happy ending? This is the first book I have read by the author and it is amazing. She weaves a story and creates characters that are unforgettable. I went through so many emotions when reading this story. It ran from being scared and sad for Caylie to that warm feeling that you get when reading of two people who are falling in love and you know that they are right for each other. This is a story that I thought about long after I had finished reading it. This book does include a sensitive subject matter and also adult situations. It would be recommended for those 18 years of age or older.

Review by Katie Kearney: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Great Read. Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2021. Rage (The Marcy series Book 1) by Linda Burson starts us down the rabbit hole that is Marcy’s life. When we start this journey, it looks like Marcy has everything a girl could ask for. A good job, a nice home, and a loving fiancée are all hers. Then the nightmares start. Before long the sleepless nights begin to take their toll on her and it gets to the point where her fiancée demands that she either get help or he’s leaving. It is at this point that things begin to take a left turn into the bizarre. After a life-threatening event pushes her over the edge Marcy meets Liam and agrees to help him find and take revenge against the man that killed his family.
This was an interesting book to say the least. The plot is very much dialogue driven and every conversation has a feeling of authenticity to it that can be hard to find in some books. The dramatic and suspenseful elements were very well done and helped to keep me interested. All in all, a solid five star read and I look forward to reading the next in this series.

Review by Angela Hayes: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. A fantastic addition to the series… Reviewed in the United States on August 8, 2021. Agony and Ecstasy is the intriguing third book in the Marcy Series by Linda Burson. The story continues from book two, so I would recommend reading the first two books before beginning this one. The more this story evolves, the more I am realising how well thought out the entire bridging storyline is. Ms. Burson has infused her story with a lot of suspense, drama, dilemmas, emotion, humour, complex characters in complicated relationships and interactions, and quite a few surprises/surprising developments.
Ms. Burson really writes well, pulling you into the story and keeping you hooked right through to the end. I laughed, cried, and got lost in this fabulous story. For me, that is the sign of a skilled writer. I have really enjoyed this series so far, but this is definitely my favourite to date.
The story has a great pace and is easy to read, it evolves beautifully and unexpectedly the further into the story/series I go. The characters have also developed and evolved along with the storyline. They tell an intriguing and very believable tale that I can’t wait to continue in the next book. Marcy, Brad and Liam have been through a lot and in this story, they continue to deal with nightmares, therapy sessions, making major decisions, dealing with shocking revelations, and more.
All this awaits in this awesome read! Bring on the next book!

Marcy has done a lot of growing and healing in this series and I have a feeling that there is still a lot more to come for her.
Marcy has such a great group of friends and she knows it, but doesn’t realize how much she will come to depend on them until one day when she least expects it. There are so many things that happen in this book, Marcy and Liam are strong, Marcy finds out more about her past and her connection to someone she didn’t even know about until memories come flooding back. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series. I have a feeling the drama is nowhere close to being over.

The story Caught In A Lie (The Marcy Series Book 6) by Linda Burson is a contemporary romance book. It is the next story in the lives of Marcy, Liam, and Brad. The story revolves around these three and the situations that they find themselves in. The past has a way of coming back as one of the characters find out. There is also a happy event on the horizon. Marcy is a strong, smart, beautiful woman. She owns a successful business and has wonderful friends and family that help her. There are times when she feels intense love and also intense frustration. She has times of confusion, doubt, guilt, and anger. There are also complications that arise. I also really enjoyed reading about the other characters who interact with Marcy. They are true friends and also family members who are there for her when she needs help the most. This story has times when there is conflict. There are also times of romance. This is another well-written story that I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. As the characters are brought forward and situations are referenced from the previous books, I would recommend reading this series in order. I am hoping for another book in the series to find out what direction the story and characters go next.
Review by E. Walsh: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. ONE HOT SUMMER READ! Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2018. Caught In A Lie (The Marcy Series Book 6) by Linda Burson was, like the other books, complex, layered and full of intense emotions.
I will start with that this book is part of a complex connecting plot line from the other five books. So I highly suggest that you read these books in order. If not, you will be confused and lost, as there is so much going one, so many twist turns and revelation that will cause confusing if not followed correctly.
This sixth book was something, Linda Burson has really displayed their writing skills in this instalment and in my opinion, is the best book in the series so far. This was very Marcy centered, well it was more Marcy centered then the others. The tempo was high, the emotions were raw. Liam, and Brad are there their giving their support. What I liked is that we get to see a different, darker side to Marcy. That really made this story stand out, and for me, brought something new to a character as long running as Marcy. That is how you evolve a story.
Overall, this series has me hooked, and I can’t wait to see if more are coming. The ending gives enough to hope, so hope I shale. Please take my super high recommendation that you will be invested in this series, in Marcy, Liam and Brad. Their situation isn’t like anything you have read, and the books just keep getting better and better. Happy Reading

Emotions run high and strong from anger and frustration, insecurities and love, pain and heartache, heartbreak and excitement and you feel every one of them. When they laugh you laugh, when they break you break with them. I love and enjoy reading about Marcy and the men in her life. Let me tell you, there were tears shed reading this one. As usual Linda’s words had me turning page after page to see what was going to happen next and I couldn’t stop until I had finished devouring each and every word. Caught In A Lie is the sixth book in the Marcy series. It ends in a way that leaves the story open, but at least this cliffhanger didn’t make me want to throw my Kindle across the room. This series is really good at feeding that feeling at times, lol.
This book is probably the most emotional book out of the series thus far, at least in my opinion. Things seem to be going well, but as I suspected after reading the previous books, it all goes wrong in a colossal way. I think I cried for two to three whole chapters. Men expressing emotion gets me every time. The author does a wonderful job of portraying the lengths we will go to because of unhealed trauma.
Beautiful tragedy sums up a lot of the story line in this book. It’s like a train wreck, you want to look away, but you can’t. I can hardly wait for the seventh book to come out!

Brad, Marcy, and Liam provide another interesting and intense instalment in a series that really does have it all. From the first meeting, to everything in between, a reader cannot help but be swept away with the clever and astute writing style Linda Burson exhibits in each book. I am always rendered speechless with the goings on in the lives of the three main characters. And exhausted, as I have to read each story in one sitting, no matter the time. Review by Ashley Dover: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Can Marcy really love two men at once? Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2021. Linda Burson’s Marcy Series starts off wonderfully with these three books. The intriguing story of a woman who loves two men at the same time seems totally absurd. How Marcy handles this among the other revelations in her life is somewhat amazing! These books are truly books that you need to have on your TBR list.
Marcy is the owner of the Coffee, Tea, and Treats bakery in Cold Spring Harbor. In Rage, readers learn of Marcy’s rage that she has used several times to get her out of jams. Unfortunately, it also makes things difficult for her longtime boyfriend, Brad. She eventually starts seeing a psychiatrist who helps her find the cause of her rage. In the meantime, Brad has big plans which lead to an engagement. Only this engagement last only a few days. After Brad breaks up with her, Marcy turns to her friend Liam for a trip out of town which leads to her falling in love with a second guy.
In book 2, Confusion, Marcy decides that she can’t handle relationships with both men. Unfortunately, the situation is not so easily managed, and she soon realizes that one of her men has been leading her with his behavior and his actions. She realizes love often means being able to give up what you most desire to have that person be happy.
In book 3, Agony and Ecstasy, Marcy’s life turns upside down once again as the best-laid plans in life aren’t always what happens. Where does Marcy find love and happiness in her life? And at what cost does this actually happen?
Review by Hornsfan73: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Strong finish to 1st set. Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2021. Rage is the first book in the Marcy series by Linda Burson. I liked the book overall and I was looking forward to reading the second book, but I found myself a little confused and now have a ton of questions. I had been down with a pretty bad cold when I started so I can’t help but wonder if that has something to do with my confusion, or if I was led to be confused on purpose by the author. If that is the case, she did a good job.
Confusion is the second book in the series. I found myself getting very frustrated with Marcy in this book. The back and forth was never ending or at least that is the way it seemed to me. There were times I really wanted to shake her and get her to make up her mind between Brad and Liam. I like the supporting cast as much if not more than the main characters and I hoped to find them in more prominent roles in the following books.
Agony and Ecstasy is the third book in the series and I think this is my favorite of the series so far. I didn’t find myself as annoyed my Marcy as I did in the first two book which was a good thing, but that never stopped me from reading the books and not want to put them down. Marcy has done a lot of growing and healing in this series and I have a feeling that there is still a lot more to come for her.
Review by Jenique Bornman: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. 3 in 1 Bonus because you’re not gonna want to put it down. Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021. Have you ever been so frustrated, overtired and filled with so much RAGE that only one little thing will push you over the edge….. Well this is where Marcy finds herself. One nightmare has driven her to the brink of uncomfortable RAGE. She’s alienated everyone close to her. And now to make matters worse the man she loves has given her an ultimatum, she has to get help or it’s over (what an ass).
Just when she thinks life can’t get any worse, she gets held at gunpoint…. that’s when it happens, that’s the point where her RAGE gets pushed over the edge of no return.
But as luck will have it, that’s when she meets the one person that might just be able to get her back from the brink of disaster.
This is a, on the edge of your seat, nail biting, page turning kind of book.
Linda Burson knows how to hook you into a book coma. Marcy is a very well thought out character. The storyline definitely leaves you wondering. Don’t blink or you will miss something and believe me you will not want to miss anything.
Great start to a great series.
And what makes this even better is you het the first 3 books in 1!!!!
That’s a bonus because believe my you’re not gonna want to stop after the first book.

The story Murder Among Friends by Linda Burson is a thrilling mystery book. It is a story that constantly had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. It is a book that I didn’t want to put down until I had read the final page. It begins with Camille Thurston taking a break from her job in Boston and staying at her brother’s home. She needs to recharge mentally. When a woman is reported missing her brother and his partner begin the investigation into where she could be. Camille who works as a private investigator also finds herself drawn into the case. Will the missing woman be found? This story has many characters that you are introduced to and that I loved reading about. They are supportive of Camille and are there for her when she needs help. There are others that you come to believe have a hidden agenda. There are times when my mouth dropped open when reading what some of the characters said and did. I loved the character of Camille. She is a woman who once she starts an investigation does not give up until she finds the truth. I also enjoyed the interactions between Camille and her brother as it shows how much they care about each other. There are also some humorous interactions between her brother and his partner. This is the second book I have read by the author and have found that she writes wonderful stories with amazing characters. I look forward to reading more of her stories.
Reviewed by: Linda Tonis-Member of the Paranormal Romance Review Team: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. She heads to Connecticut to stay with her brother Zach his wife Leah and her niece and nephew who love her almost as much as she loves them. Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2018. Camille (Cammy) Thurston works for a private detective business as a private investigator, a job she has been at for three years. It was three years ago that her life was turned upside down, she was passed over for a promotion at work and the night she thought her boyfriend of three years was finally going to propose he broke up with her. It was at a bar drinking away her sorrows that she met Frank Dees the owner of the private investigation business who offered her a job.
Camille’s father and now her brother are police officers but Camille realized after graduating from the police academy that it was not for her but being a private eye was just what the doctor ordered after everything that happened to her. Now after three years of pushing herself she is emotionally and mentally ready for some time off. She heads to Connecticut to stay with her brother Zach his wife Leah and her niece and nephew who love her almost as much as she loves them.
While at Zach’s home she meets and falls in love with a little neighborhood boy Austin who can’t wait to spend time at the house playing with Cammy and the kids. Austin is dropped off each day by his father Grant Clemons in spite of the objection by Austin’s mother Paula. Paula and Grant have a very contentious marriage she is a sorry excuse for a mother and is always fighting with Grant. When Paula disappears, Cammy offers to help with Austin and after a while she and Grant become close. He has finally found a woman that makes him happy but with Paula missing their relationship is at a standstill. Either they have to wait seven years still she is declared dead or if she is dead her body has to show up, those are the only two ways that Grant and Cammy can legally marry and be together.
Grant always knew he was miserable with Paula but he didn’t realize the extent of misery that she was leveling on their son. Neither he nor Austin are sad she isn’t around and their biggest worry is that she could return. The reason that Grant never divorced her and the reason he married her in the first place are not for me to reveal but for you to find out for yourself and both reasons are worth the read.
I don’t want to give anything away in this review but I will say that there were surprises that I didn’t even see coming and I doubt anyone else would. There are also a group of Paula’s so-called friends each claiming to be her best friend who can’t stop themselves from interfering in Grant’s life, each woman with dreams of having Grant for themselves in spite of some of them being married. It is Grant’s next-door neighbor and Paula’s friend that causes a lot of trouble but another thing I am unwilling to talk about. I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
Review by Bob-VINE VOICE: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Captivating. Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2022. Ever since the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys series, I’ve always loved murder mysteries. I hit the jackpot with this one. It had several cases going on at the same time. This author has a real knack for creating a lot of suspense and keeping you there.
Also, as an extra bonus, who would have known romance would be thrown as well! I feel like I got a lot more than I bargained for in this book. The main mystery involves finding a missing woman. Who is it? Who did it? There are several options, but I bet you can’t figure out who did it!
I found the characters, Cammy, her brother Zach, and Grant very likable, relatable, and well developed. I found Cammy extremely likable. As a private investigator, she just couldn’t help but get involved in this mystery even though it was her law enforcement brother, Zach’s case. My heart went out too little 7-year-old Austin, a pawn in the marriage between Grant and Paula.
Wow, the twists, and turns will have you spinning. Well done Linda Burson! This is the first book I have read by this author. I see she has several more. I will have to check them out. I loved the pace of this story. Seriously, you will not want to put this one down.

I can’t even begin to explain how much I LOVED Murder Among Friends by Linda Burson! She creates a setting with wonderful characters, to nosey neighbors, mystery, suspense, a HUGE ending twist, and of course murder, but just how much? I guess you will have to read to find out!!!!
Grant, stuck in a marriage he was forced into, does everything he can do to deal with his wife Paula, just to be with his son. Until one day Paula disappears without a trace.
Grant, being a lawyer, knows though he didn’t do it he’s now the prime suspect. Though he’s not the only one who isn’t sad Paula is gone.
Camille, an undercover PI, takes a leave of absence from her job in Boston to stay with her brother in Connecticut. Ends up in the middle of Paula’s disappearance investigation.
I got sucked into this book, I didn’t want to put it down. I felt like the nosey neighbors watching Camille and Grant during the investigation of his wife’s disappearance.
Trust me when I say READ IT!!!

She went to the Academy but decided that was not the way she wanted to go with her life. Cammy’s brother gets a case about the neighbor’s wife going missing. Cammy who has fallen in love with the neighbor’s little boy gets involved with the case. But is she too close? She has the neighborhood talking up a storm spending so much time with the handsome father.
There was romance and mystery and catty women. This book made me smile and giggle more than once, but it also kept me turning the pages. I will be seeking out other books by this author.
Review by Ashley: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. I didn’t see that coming! Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2021. Murder Among Friends by Linda Burson was excellent. I was expecting a thriller, but I got so much more, crime thriller mixed with romance. Murder Among Friends was well written, the characters were developed well, and the banter between the siblings was believable, it reminded me of the banter between me and my siblings. Murder Among Friends quickly caught my attention and kept me quickly turning the pages to find out what happened next. I was pleasantly surprised at some unexpected twists that I didn’t see coming. I’m generally pretty good at guessing the “twists” but I didn’t see these coming, which made it that much better. The attention to detail is great throughout the book, it really makes you feel like you are sitting right there “seeing” everything that is happening. I recommend this book to anyone who likes the thriller genre, even the romance genre, you won’t be disappointed.

Definitely a page turner that makes you want to continue reading with no regard to the outside world. There are twists and turns in every chapter and just when you think you have it figured out, another twist smacks you in the face. The Kidnapping was surprisingly unexpected. In a good way. I was hooked from the first chapter. It’s been a while since a book has gotten me that quickly. I didn’t want to put it down. The author takes us on a whirlwind adventure. One that just when you think it’s over, boom not quite. The way the author wrote the two main characters they are both easy to love for their own reasons. Plus, the growth throughout is beautiful.
Andy and Jenna had no idea they’d cross paths, or that it would change their lives forever.
Jenna is lonely in life. Proof that money can’t buy everything. All people want her for is what she can give them, the things she could buy. And she’s just sick of it all. Ending up at a dive bar on the other side of town gives her a chance to let go and unwind.

He decides to meet her and tell her.
Instant connection, instant chemistry that they both choose to ignore. Though Jenna’s plan could throw a wrench in that. She wants to stay with Andy, and figures it’s the best way to keep her safe. That is till they figure out what to do about the letter. There’s strong connections that her ex-fiancé Steve has his hands all over this mess.
So come join us, for an unexpected rollercoaster, lots of romance, lots of awkward holding back. While these two navigate their new situation.
Do they figure it out? Does Andy keep Jenna safe?

The author did a great job explaining why Jenna is leary of trusting people and is even more distraught to discover she might have been duped again.
I think Andy was an even better character. I loved the amount of depth there was to him. I also loved how he always was trying his best to do the right thing.
Jenna and Andy’s circumstances were less than ideal but their banter was something I truly loved. I definitely loved this book and read it in less than one day. Romance (Suspense Thriller)
Message From Linda Burson: I decided to write a different kind of biography. While the one written in a few of my books is accurate, this one adds a bit more detail. This one will give you the complete reason while I decided to not only write a novel, but to finally complete it, as well as continue writing.
Life is short. Yes, you’ve heard that cliché many, many times, I’m sure. For me, however, I understand it and feel it to my core. There are those of you who may feel it as deeply as me. Whether you changed your life completely, well, only you would know that. As for me, that’s exactly what I did, and the true reason I am now writing full time.
I had two close calls in my life, close as in the end of my life as we know it here on earth. This makes one stop and think. It certainly made me stop and think, a lot. It made me appreciate what I have, but it also made me consider if the life I was living and the direction it was heading was truly what I desired. This wasn’t a difficult decision for me. I always knew I wanted to write books, but as I said in the previous biography, something always seems to “get” in the way.
Besides the fact that physically I could have died twice, I did have four special people in my life who died way too young. They were all close to me as I was to them. The first important, irreplaceable person I lost was my mother who died from ovarian cancer. Next, was my brother who died due to heart issues; my best friend, who was more like a close sister, died due to breast cancer, and lastly, a cousin who was also a best friend to me, to suicide.
This alone should have been enough for me to make changes in my life. It did get me to seriously consider making these changes and attempt to start that writing career multiple times, but it didn’t push me over the edge enough to do it. It took me being diagnosed with breast cancer, not having great odds, and a couple of years contemplating my life that finally gave me the push I needed to close my business and write full time. It’s the second scare I experienced that keeps me writing.
So, if you don’t wake in the morning looking forward to starting your day, hopefully with a smile, then maybe you need to take a second look at the direction of your life. I found the joy and passion in writing books. Do I want to sell lots and lots of books? Of course. But that isn’t my driving force. I know not everyone is going to love my stories; but that doesn’t matter as much as the fact that I enjoy writing them. It makes me happy; it makes me full whole, and it makes me wake looking forward to starting my day because I know I have something waiting for me that I love to do.
