Homer’s Odd Sea Odyssey by Jay Dubya.

The poet/bard Homer, reputed to have been blind, is credited with organizing the Odyssey, the epic tale of the Greek hero Odysseus, who was punished by Poseidon (Neptune, the sea god) for ten-long-years after the Trojan War. Homer had lived around the time when alphabets and writing were developed (around 1,000 BC), so the bard’s epic poem was later recorded by educated scribes and exists today in its present form.

In 1184 BC, King Odysseus was returning home from the Trojan War to Ithaca, his native island off the coast of Greece. The Greek hero had an armada of twelve ships upon leaving Troy, and his famous confrontation with the contemptible Cyclops (son of Poseidon, whom Odysseus had blinded) was one major episode in a ten-year mis-adventure after leaving Troy. King Agamemnon of Mycenae, and his brother, King Menelaus of Sparta, had led the great expedition of a thousand Greek ships and 50,000 warriors against the Asia Minor city of Troy. The Trojan War had taken ten-long-years to fight, and the lengthy conflict was finally won by Odysseus, a brilliant schemer, who had designed the famous Trojan Horse. The cunning Greek warriors situated the structure outside the main gates of Troy, which was strategically located at the Hellespont Channel located between Greece and Asia Minor (now Turkey).

Odysseus had been away from Ithaca for 20 years; ten years fighting in the Trojan War, and another ten years being tormented in a series of mis-adventures caused by Poseidon, for the returning Ithacan King blinding the sea-god’s son, the one-eyed Cyclops. Homer’s epic poem the Iliad is the story of the Trojan War, and the Odyssey recounts the fantastic challenges endured by the hero Odysseus, who survived an incredible ten-year journey home to be reunited with his faithful wife, Queen Penelope.

Homer’s Ill Iliad by Jay Dubya.

HOMER’S ILL ILIAD is adult satirical literature featuring adult language and humorous adult situations. The poet/bard Homer, reputed to have been blind, is credited with orally describing the Iliad (the story of the end of the ten-year Trojan War), and the Odyssey, the epic tale of the Greek hero Odysseus, who had been punished by Poseidon (Neptune, the sea god) for ten-long-years after the Trojan War. Homer had lived during the time when alphabets and writing were being developed (around 1,000 BC), so his two epic poems were later recorded by educated scribes and both stories exist today in their present forms.

Around 1184 BC, King Agamemnon of Mycenae, and his brother, King Menelaus of Sparta, had led the great expedition of a thousand Greek ships and 50,000 warriors against the Asia Minor city of Troy. The kings of the Greek city states were notorious pirates and marauders, but to glamorize their siege upon Troy, a mythological story involving Helen of Sparta, wife of King Menelaus, claimed that she had been wooed by Prince Paris of Troy to elope to Asia Minor. Thus, Helen of Sparta soon became Helen of Troy, and her abduction became the principal cause of the Trojan War.

The Trojan War, fought during the late Bronze Age, had taken almost ten-long-years, and the lengthy conflict was finally won when Odysseus, a brilliant schemer and ball-breaker, had a magnificent Wooden Trojan Horse built, and then had the Greek warriors situate the structure outside the main gates of Troy. The city was strategically located at the Hellespont Channel between Greece and Persia (now Turkey). Greek heroes were hidden inside the stomach of the colossal horse, and during the night, the warriors stealthily climbed-down a rope, opened the gates to Troy, and allowed thousands of Greek warriors to enter, rampage, sack and plunder.

The Invisible Man by Jay Dubya.

The Invisible Man is adult satirical literature featuring adult language and adult situations. The setting is England in the late 1890s, just before the turn of a new century, and also, occurring right during the exciting advances evolving in modern science and technology, where new wonderful conveniences were dominant in the minds of people throughout the Western World whose lives were improving and changing almost on a daily basis.

Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) was born in England, and by the turn of the twentieth century, became one of the Founding Fathers of science fiction. Wells’ most famous novels are The Time Machine, War of the Worlds, and The Invisible Man, which were written and published between 1895 and 1905.

H.G. Wells was a great student of history, and the author loved thinking about mankind’s ultimate destiny. In his classic stories, Wells often tells through his characters what he believes is wrong with civilization, so that’s why the author never ran out of characters for his popular novels.

By mentally taking his readers into the future, or by analyzing society in the present, Herbert George Wells skillfully demonstrated exactly where the human race would be evolving unless science, culture, and emotional growth would change their present courses. Herein lies a new adult-oriented satirical version of H.G. Wells’ famous novel, The Invisible Man.
