Book 1 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

Jessie Reynolds has no idea when she moves to Blue Cove, that she will be sharing her life with a ghost. A young pastor has been murdered, and Jessie finds herself following the trail of that death into the dark and deadly world of organ trafficking.

Jessie is soon introduced to the detective in charge of the case. Matt Parker is a tall, scruffy, ruggedly handsome man who takes an instant dislike to her and the feeling is mutual. He wants her out of his case and she finds herself entangled in it. The tension between them mounts and so does the attraction.

Review by ReNae Bowman: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Must read!!! You won’t be disappointed!!!! Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2014. Verified Purchase. I just finished a new (and first) novel written by Iona Morrison; title “The Harvest Club”. Wow, what a great read!! I enjoyed every page of this mystery. My criteria for a good read are style, character, and plot development. Ms. Morrison’s clean, crisp writing style kept me turning pages and I was intrigued by the characters from the start. Plot development is tight and keeps you guessing all the way to the end.

The main character Jessie is a delight. It is great to see a strong woman character not painted as isolated and needy due to her strength. Always disappointing are the seemingly strong women characters that fall apart and in the end some guy comes in to rescue them. Wonderful to read a book where the female character is genuinely strong and the world doesn’t melt backwards into the 50’s!!

Throughout the book Jessie’s character never wavers, she is self-confident because of her personal convictions and ethics. Her curiosity and internal intelligence serve her well and guide her to the truth.

The setting, the plot and all the other characters are there for the reader to discover. Through her writing skill, Ms. Morrison transports you to Blue Cove and tells a story that will linger in your mind for a long time. I say Iona Morrison nailed it!!! I cannot wait until her next book.

Review by Judith Sterling: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. A fun read! Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2021. Verified Purchase. The Harvest Club is the first of the Blue Cove mysteries, and I loved it. I enjoyed following Jessie Reynolds in her search for a new life…and her search for answers in a sinister murder case that kept me guessing. There’s a lot of chemistry between her and Detective Matt Parker, and as the danger escalated, I was genuinely worried for them. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Review by Gutie G: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. A real page turner. Fantastic first effort. Can’t wait for the next. Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2014. Verified Purchase. The Harvest Club is a new novel from freshman author Iona Morrison. The story takes the heroine from the city to a sleepy little New England town for a well-needed change of pace. What she gets instead is involvement in intrigue, murder, international organ trafficking, romance, and visits by the local ghost. This narrative provides the thrills and plot lines that Americans have come to expect of a major motion picture. Morrison may be a humble secretary and pastor’s wife just beginning her career in literature, but she writes like a seasoned pro. Morrison weaves a suspenseful tale while investing the reader in the lives of the characters as skillfully as Patterson or Baldacci. Her second novel is due out next year. If it is anything like The Harvest Club, I can’t wait to devour it.

Review by Steven J Wunch: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Grabbed Me From The Get-Go! Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2015. Verified Purchase. I’m not much of a reader, and a book really has to grab my attention early, and keep it. This book did just that. Iona Morrison’s got a real way with telling the story of Jessie that makes you connect with her character from the get go. The relationship between Jessie and Matt is so well represented, I can’t wait to see what happens next. One specific thing I enjoyed is that Iona is able to marry a wholesome, Christian-like content with some paranormal activity – which for this reader was a big hit! I’m already half-way through her second novel “Not for Sale” and have to tell you – it’s better than Harvest Club. KUDOS to Iona Morrison, and here’s to the next several novels in her series!

Review by Margaret White: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. I really liked this book. Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2018. Verified Purchase. I really liked this book, so much so I was sorry it ended. The characters are well written. And the plot had a lot of twists and turns. The ending was good too. I am not the best reviewer since I am not a great writer – maybe that’s why I like to read so much. I do have to say this book will not disappoint you and I have already purchased other books from this author that I can’t wait to begin.

Not For Sale by Iona Morrison.

Book 2 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

A desperate young girl cries out for help as she hides in terror, hoping against hope that someone might hear her. Jessie Reynolds does and finds herself caught up in an equally desperate search for Abigail. She has escaped human traffickers, but has no idea where she is, and Jessie must find her in time. She joins forces with Matt, the chief of police, and they discover that Abigail is only one of several kidnapped children.

Faced by a cold trail, they must rely on Jessie’s ability to hear Abigail’s thoughts, backed up by a tracking bloodhound. But the children mean big money and that brings murder and a hit man to Blue Cove to clean up the mess. Matt and Jessie grow closer as they are forced to work side by side but will they find Abigail in time? And will they, themselves, survive?

Review by Jo: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. I cannot put these books down!!! Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2016. Verified Purchase. This of course was an excellent book. I am now getting ready to start the 3rd book The Game Changer. I read the first two books quickly, because I could not put them down. I almost don’t want to start book 3, because book 4 is not for sale yet. I really hope this series continues on for a very long time. It has absolutely everything that interests me. It has a great Hero, a wonderful Heroine, and exceptional cast of supporting characters. Not too many to confuse the reader, just the right amount. This book is full of suspense, and has the little edge of supernatural that I look for when selecting a series to read. Nothing is overdone to the point you feel it is ridiculous. The stories are extremely well balanced, interesting and they really capture me. I feel like I am right there experiencing this in person. What an excellent writer Iona Morrison is. I am so glad that I found this series. Thank you, Amazon, for understanding the types of books I like, and making this book a recommendation for me to read.

Review by Judith Sterling: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Suspense and romance in Blue Cove! Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021. Verified Purchase. This second book in the Blue Cove Mystery series is a suspenseful story which involves human trafficking, a scary subject to be sure! I was so nervous for the kidnapped children and anxious for the hero, heroine, and the heroic tracking bloodhound to find the kids and nail the perpetrators. A solid addition to the series!

Review by Diane: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Another winner. Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2015. Verified Purchase. A book I couldn’t put down, just like the first with these characters. And another social justice issue at the core of the story line. We’ve heard more and more about human trafficking, but usually about girls brought from third-world countries. This book addresses the market for American children, and that is way too close to home. It’s a reality people should be alert to. It’s sickens the spirit to think that fellow citizens can be sucked in to such evil. As far as Jessie and Matt are concerned, it’s a developing relationship based on character and chemistry, a refreshing and fun thing to watch and anticipate. Hoping for another Blue Cove mystery.

Review by Angel: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. An enjoyable book. Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2016. Verified Purchase. I enjoyed the story. It has suspense, romance and even some paranormal activities going on within. What it doesn’t have is a lot of blood, sex and bad language which is a total turn off for me. It keeps you in suspense trying to find all the kidnapped children. I especially liked the bloodhound tracker. This book is sort of a continuation of the book ” The Harvest Club” which I also enjoyed. It’s a new story in a series…. same people, same town. I would suggest reading them in the order they were written.

Review by Cheryl: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Another great read in the Blue Cove series! Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2015. Verified Purchase. Iona once again sets a heart-rending mystery in the quaint town of Blue Cove, as Jesse and Matt work together to put an end to an evil group of so-called businessmen. There is a real sense of desperation as they attempt to locate the pitiful victims in time to save their lives. Not only are her human characters charming and likeable, but the introduction of a loveable search and rescue dog is fun and informative. Iona calls our attention to serious ills of society in her books, and she gives us food for thought as well as entertaining. This is a definite must read!

Review by Steven J Wunch: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. I’m a HUGE FAN! Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2015. Verified Purchase. After reading Iona Morrison’s first book, The Harvest Club, I couldn’t wait to get into Not For Sale. I’m half-way through it and am totally in love with the writing style, characters, situations, etc. Iona has a way of combining the paranormal with every day, wholesome characters and situations that has completely made me a HUGE fan. I’d recommend this book to anyone who has a penchant for the paranormal and loves a good mystery thriller! I even took it with me to Paris and had a read in the Luxembourg Garden during my July 2015 vacation!!

The Game Changer by Iona Morrison.

Book 3 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

To her shock, the suddenly distraught Evan tells her that he has seen her in a dream. She is the only person who can help him find his missing wife. Jessie calls her boyfriend Matt, the chief of police, and almost immediately, a picture of the abduction forms in her mind. Jessie is once more involved in a case.

Missing files, strange fetishes, and general chaos worry Matt, but when a note shows up in Jessie’s mail, they are off and running following the new clues. Three separate cases merge into one, which takes them from Blue Cove to Palm Springs. A kidnapping, a stalker, and illegal weapons converge with the dark arts of voodoo, pushing Matt and Jessie to their limits. They are running out of time as the dark perpetrator stalks Jessie.

Review by ReNae Bowman: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Great reading entertainment. Reviewed in the United States on August 29, 2016. Verified Purchase. I love the Blue Cove series. The books are difficult to put down because they are suspenseful and they move at a great pace. These are a fun, recreational reads that gives me the reader the opportunity to escape. I read the first two and loved them and love this one even more. From a crime perspective I love that Jessie is respected by the police and sheriff’s department although that is not her profession.

I love how Ms. Morrison provide us with background behind the crime fighting. I don’t know if it is true or not, but after reading this book, I taped over the camera on my home laptop. I am not the paranoid type, but the reason given in the book made sense to me. The characters are developed yet are still being revealed with each book. Jessie was ever more confident and mature as evidenced by the fact she only giggled once in this book.

Review by Linda H.: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Another exciting Blue Cove book from Iona Morrison. Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2016. Verified Purchase. Loved this third book of the series. Interesting take on the evil that can have a lot of power over people. The spying part scares me and they just did a story on the news about taping over the camera on your computer and how easy it is to hack in to spy on people. Love the development of the story between Jessie and Matt. Can’t wait for the next book! These are fast, exciting reads.

Review by MaryLou Hoffman (VINE VOICE): 5.0 out of 5 Stars. I LOVE BLUE COVE. Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2019. ONLY A SHADOW is the fifth book in the Blue Cove Mystery series. Though each will stand on its own, I support reading them all and in the order of release. For myself, this is the first book that I have read from Iona Morrison and I truly do wish I had the rest of the Blue Cove Mystery series. I love Jessie! I love Matt! I only wish the narrator were someone other than Nicole Blessing (aka the cure for insomnia).

What a fantastic story! It had suspense, action, ghosts, sweet babies, sweet romance, and fighting back against domestic abuse! Because some of the subject matter would be traumatic for younger children, I would hesitate to let the smaller ears listen in, but otherwise it is safe for the family.

As I said, this is the first book I have read, though it is the fifth in the series, but it is obvious that Matt and Jessie’s relationship has been slowly growing through these five books. I’ve joined at the right time! Sigh!! I love that he believes in her, even if he can’t see her ghosts. Their sparks are evident in every interaction and conversation. They also have a wonderful group of friends who add a tremendous layer of depth to the story and their lives.

Narration – 2 crowns: Narration is done by Nicole Blessing and I have only one more read by her in my library. I have made a concerted effort to clear these books from my files and I’m nearly there. Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy via getfreeaudiobooks.com, my opinions are my own and are given freely. Category /Genre: Paranormal Cozy Mystery. Book 6 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

Ghosts of the dead swirl around Jessie Reynolds seeking her help. Two bodies have washed ashore in Blue Cove. Further investigation shows the murders are more than local hate crimes. Matt finds himself targeted by the same suspects as the victims and must rely on experience and training to survive. Finding A Way Forward by Iona Morrison.

Book 7 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

When a ghost decides it’s high-time for her murder to be solved, she chooses Jessie Reynolds to solve the cold case. Armed with only the girl’s name, Jessie goes in search of information and is stunned to find a link connecting the dead girl to Matt Parker. Is it possible the man Jessie cares about had something to do with the crime?

As the case unfolds, Matt and Jessie have all they can handle dealing with two possibly connected murders, a menacing man from Jessie’s past, and the knowledge of a porn ring at the local high school that could take down several prominent citizens of Blue Cove. Top that off with Jessie’s vision of a celestial battle of angels against a fire breathing dragon, as well as a marriage proposal we’ve all been waiting for, and you have another book you will not be able to put down! Key To The Past by Iona Morrison.

Book 8 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

Plans for a romantic weekend celebrating their recent engagement at a charming inn go awry when Detective Matt Parker and bookstore owner Jessie Reynolds are suddenly pulled into another case.

A missing girl’s ghost, an antique key, and an improbable journey take Jessie into another dimension to solve the murder, leaving Matt behind to wonder if he will ever see her again.

Bullets fly and sparks ignite—as the past and the present collide, in their most unusual case to date.

Review by Mark Scott Piper: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Equal Doses of Mystery and the Paranormal, plus a Dash of Thriller and a Touch of Romance. Reviewed in the United States on November 27, 2020. Verified Purchase. Key to the Past is the eighth book in Iona Morrison’s Blue Cove Mystery series. I haven’t read the others yet, and that means there are probably references here that I didn’t quite get because of it. That doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy Key to the Past as a stand-alone read.

It’s a page-turner in the truest sense of the word. The mystery is complex, the time travel elements are compelling, and the romance between the two main characters, Jessie Reynolds, and Matt Parker, feels real and deep. Many of the paranormal elements defy explanation, but in Morrison’s capable hands they are perfectly believable–or at least perfectly acceptable. The murder mystery itself is fraught with twists and turns as the details slowly unfold, and there are a few loose ends that never get tied up, but the narrative is still edge-of-the-seat stuff up to the revelations at the end. I don’t generally read a lot of romances or paranormal tales. I may have to change my ways. I unabashedly recommend this book.

Review by Mary Nash: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Paranormal mystery and romance at its best. Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2020. Verified Purchase. I love the supernatural twists and turns this series has. Jessie and Matt have a strong relationship but this latest case really puts their love to a test. Jessie disappears into another dimension to solve murder from many years ago. Matt is left to work it from this dimension while trying to keep hope alive that Jessie will be able to come back to him. Very intense storyline that is hard to put down.

What a wild ride Iona Morrison takes us on in Book 8 of the Blue Cove Mysteries series! I so enjoy the development of Jesse and Matt’s relationship. I was fascinated by the idea of traveling to another dimension and found on Google it’s an actual theory! The fact that Jesse was in one dimension while Matt was in our dimension helping to solve a past murder made it an exhilarating story! I can’t wait to read the next one to see where she takes us again.

Searching For Closure by Iona Morrison.

Book 9 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

An Arizona heatwave, a murder, and a ghost searching for closure give Peyton Reynolds all she can handle on her long-awaited vacation.

When a body is found at the bottom of the pool of the resort she’s staying at, Peyton leaps into action, starting CPR. She stops when she sees the young man’s ghost watching her actions. And he’s not alone.

Detective Jaxon Kincaid knows that Peyton is hiding something. How did she know the caliber of the weapon which killed the victim? And why is she so nervous and combative when she talks to him?

He’s fascinated, but wary of this beautiful redhead. As their attraction grows, and as Peyton inserts herself into his case, can he protect her from someone who seems to want them both dead?

5 Stars: A Cozy Mystery with Paranormal Suspense!

Peyton Reynolds vacation is turned upside down while she is poolside. Peyton acts quickly to save a life, when her physic visions interfere with the process, and her secret might soon be exposed.

I learned something while reading that I didn’t know. I had never thought about the history behind the term ‘cowboy’ until Author Iona Morrison took me on this exciting adventure to Tucson Arizona, where the streets of Tombstone hold mysteries of their own.

Iona skillfully draws her readers into the drama, creating suspense and intrigue, with a dash of romance on the side. Let me bring you into the story at Chapter 12:

…Jaxon was waiting for Peyton when she stepped out of the tour van. He grabbed her hand, and she slapped at his arm and tried to pull free. He held tight.  Silent treatment, he had expected and possibly worse. Side by side they walked beside each other in complete silence.

…When they reached Allen Street, the historic street of the old west and the tourist part of Tombstone, he noticed a sudden change in her demeanor. Something was up but what? “Are you okay?” he asked.

…She didn’t respond but seemed to be mesmerized by something around her. He couldn’t see anything, but she must be. The atmosphere around her seemed charged. He couldn’t put his finger on what was happening, but she held his hand tight. Really tight. In a death grip, almost painfully so. He would take his cue from her because he had no idea what was happening with her. At one point, she ducked, flinched, and seemed to weave back and forth as if moving through a huge crowd. “Peyton, what’s up?” She ignored the question. He kept pace with her and waited until she returned from wherever she had gone.

I invite you to read ‘Searching for Closure’ and discover the secret Peyton carries with her. This is a perfect story to enjoy anytime and anywhere. The characters will come alive in your mind, as the plot twists and turns, giving way to a new page. Whether this is the first book that you have read in the ‘Blue Cove Mystery’ series or not, you will want to read the entire series to discover for yourself what makes “Blue Cove’ “such a unique place”.

As The Page Turns by Iona Morrison.

Book 10 of 11: A Blue Cove Mystery.

Peyton Reynolds has no idea that the gorgeous summer day she is enjoying is about to take a strange turn and embroil her and her boyfriend Jaxon Kincaid in another case. As the details emerge, it won’t take long for them to understand there is nothing normal about the murder Peyton has witnessed. An erratic suspect, a gathering of ghosts, and Peyton’s sudden disappearance will leave Jaxon scrambling for answers in the pages of a book left behind. They will have to think outside the box with help from the past to solve this one.

5 Stars: Can Pages Of A Book Solve A Mystery?

Recovering from being shot while in Arizona, Peyton Reynold’s decision to spend time in Blue Cove with her grandmother and cousin was a ‘godsend’ This was the perfect day for Katie’s fairytale wedding. The Inn, renovated to its nineteen-eighteen historical period was intriguing, but a strange foreboding presence caused Payton apprehension.

Jaxon Kincaid, Peyton’s boyfriend is turning off the highway into Blue Cover to surprise Peyton. Peyton continued to look out the window lost in thought. In her heart, she knew the wedding would be all that Katie wanted it to be. The loud banging at the kitchen screen door startled her. Standing outside was a young woman with blood splattered down the front of her clothes. This would be the just the beginning of the mysteries about to unfold.

Later, Peyton and her cousin Jessie go exploring in the attic. Let me bring you into their discussion in Chapter 14:

… “Peyton laughed and reached to steady Jessie who yanked her hand back and almost fell down the stairs taking Peyton with her. “Sorry. I forgot to warn you about the zing that comes when opening the door.”

… “It didn’t do that when Katie and I were up here searching through the trunks for the handkerchief.”

… “Who opened the door?” she asked.

… “Katie did.” Jessie wiggled her tingling fingers. “Mystery solved.” Peyton stepped in front of Jessie and opened the door. “Now you can understand why I want to search up here. The atmosphere is zipping, and there is bound to be a good reason.” Peyton opened the first trunk and went through it carefully. “Some of this stuff is cool.”

…Jessie opened the doors of an old armoire. “Peyton, you’ve got to see this. We could have a costume party. Would you look at these clothes?” She wrapped a feather boa around her neck and placed one of the vintage hats on her head.

… “I’m not a fan of the feathers, but the hat is you with your golden curls spilling out. You look like you could be one of the women in Monet’s famous garden painting except for your clothes of course.” Peyton jumped when the attic door slammed with a loud bang. “Zip, zip, zip. See what I mean.”

… “I wonder what that’s all about.” Jessie took off the boa and hat. She bent to open the drawer at the bottom of the armoire, but it wouldn’t budge. A second attempt and one hard pull sent her falling backward onto her derrière. The drawer was still firmly closed. “A slamming door and a drawer that won’t open has me more curious than ever. How about you?”

What happens next is terrifying for Jessie and Jaxon struggles to get the story straight.

Now Destiny can relax, as Spring unfolds around her in Blue Cove. The Spring air is electric, there are new people to meet, and the possibilities are endless.

Blue Cove is a magical place where Destiny experiences things that are hard to explain. Her mother tells her “Even I have experienced some things in life for which there were no reasonable answers. Editorial Review (Book Marketing Global Network).

Review by J. A. Davis: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Engaging and Sweet Read. Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021. Verified Purchase. Sally Mansfield has returned to the Blue Iris Inn in Blue Cove for the holidays to meet her childhood friends. She’s recovering from an abusive relationship. A recent broken engagement and job offer brought Chad Bennett back. Both are sworn to not repeat their mistakes and fall in love again.

You have to love the magic of Christmas and author Iona Morrison who puts it all together in her novella by using a Christmas sprite, named Elida, who chooses the name Holly as she appears in the real world. The cheerful sprite sets out to match Sally with Chad as she nudges them toward each other to help them rediscover love.

This is an enjoyable read with a hint of paranormal that makes it endearing for the Christmas season. And who doesn’t like mint bars, also a part of the story with an accompanying recipe at the end? This story is sweet, engaging, and an adorable read.

Review by Redi44Crew: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Second Chance Romance is a Definite Must Read. Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021. Verified Purchase. Magic and Midnight Mint Bars by Iona Morrison is a touching tale of second chances. Sally and Chad have been brought together in her childhood town after painful breakups. It was obvious from their first meeting that they fit like two puzzle pieces. Their chemistry leaped from the page – even if their friends pushed them together at every turn.

However, my favorite character is Elida the fairy when she dresses in her disguise as Holly. Elida has magical glamor and can change herself to look like a little old lady to get away with mischief. From purposefully confusing the hero to rearranging the heroine’s schedule, her shenanigans were hilarious. All of her scenes had me on the edge of my seat, I needed to know what trouble she would stir up next!

Overall, I recommend this fairytale of second chances and magic to hopeless romantics who are looking for holiday magic.

Sally Mansfield is just out of a bad relationship, wounded and feeling low self-esteem she heads to Blue Iris Inn to spend Christmas with her best friends. Surrounded by people who love her and with the aide of someone I grew to think of as her fairy godmother, Sally stops blaming herself for the horrible events of her past. And did I mention there is a sweet, attractive man who isn’t there to find love, but he can’t help but notice Sally. Magic & Midnight Mint Bars has just the right amount of holiday spirit, friendship, romance, and hope. If you’re in the mood for an inspirational story, you won’t be disappointed.

Review by Sheila Hemingway: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Such a sweet Christmas story. Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2021. Verified Purchase. This is the next in the series about Jesse and Katie and their third friend. It really brought a smile to my face. To see Sally doing so well after her bitter divorce. Can’t wait to see what happens between Sally and Chad. They both deserve to be happy.

Author Bio: I am a multi-published Amazon bestselling author who writes romantic suspense with a touch of the paranormal. I enjoy writing fiction. The character development, their stories, and the twists and turns in the plot intrigue me. Once I let the characters loose, I can’t wait to see where they take me. I’m hooked from the first words on the paper and I have to keep writing to see how the story ends. Layer by layer I build it until I come to the happy conclusion.

I live in Colorado with my husband and family. I am a member of the RMFWPAL (Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Published Authors League) and have enjoyed becoming involved in my community as one of the many authors living in Colorado. I invite you to read one of my Blue Cove Mysteries and see for yourself why Blue Cove is a special and unusual place.
