Tell Me Why by Ruth O’Neill
Lauren Adams is just an ordinary single girl, until one split-second decision throws her life into crisis. When she meets the handsome and intriguing Max Davies during a girls’ weekend away, she can’t believe her luck. But it soon turns out to be her biggest mistake. Max gets accused of murder, a murder that allegedly happened on the same night he and Lauren met. Is Max really the man she thinks he is? Is he really innocent of murder? And why does Lauren hear him late at night, building something in the basement – a basement he’s made clear is out of bounds? Tell me why follows a woman who just wants to be loved, but who instead ends up in a tangled web of lies, deceit, and terror. A chilling read you won’t stop talking about.
Excerpt Provided by Author: The extreme pain in her abdomen took a while to ease, but when it did she sat up and began feeling along the bottom of the door. Nothing. Where was the hatch? She dragged her hand over the coarse wood, feeling the space of a lock. A rounded hole at the top and a small oblong shape at the bottom brought her a wave of euphoria, and spreading the mound of earth away from the top step, she reached for the hidden keys. Her hand found the set, but inserting the first key into the lock proved tricky; her coordination was lost in the dark. She fumbled around, the key scraping against the metal but not connecting. She tried the second key. With the realization that neither of the keys fitted, she screamed out, “No!”
5 Star Review: Chapter one begins with Kevin who is part of a rescue team, gearing up to rescue Jacob’s sister Lauren, who is trapped in a small cavernous hole.
*****The answers to the need for this rescue party begins in chapter two, when Author Ruth O’Neill skillfully takes her readers back two years prior.
*****The trip was to be a soul weekend camp for Lauren and her four girlfriends. The camp hold structured events throughout the weekend that involved the entire group.
*****This psychological thriller takes a turn when main character, Lauren Adams, believes that someone is watching her.
*****Not all is bad, romance is in the air. Curled up in her favorite blanket, a glass of wine in hand, Lauren is consumed in thought. Max took over her thoughts, and she’s glad for the interruption. She’d felt an instant connection with Max; it was the first time in a long time that she’d actually taken any real interest in a man.
*****Lauren had been looking for the man of her dreams all her life and now, she thought, she had found him. What should she do?
*****Will Max be the man that Lauren has dreamed of all her life?
*****You will keep turning the pages as this story is wrapped in adventure, mystery, danger and even murder. This is a chilling account of an ordinary girl who makes a split-second decision that throws her life into crisis.
*****Will a set of hidden keys provide the escape that Lauren needs?
