Three-year-old Amy is off on an adventure-a sleepover at her aunt and uncle’s house!

Jump into this bilingual book and join Amy on her most exciting day, all while learning another language!

When you finish reading, you will no doubt want to do it again!

5 Star Review: Do it Again! ¡Otra Vez! by Ann Morris, is a delightful bilingual children’s book.

As A Mom and Grandmother who has read many children’s books, the beautiful illustrations caught my attention immediately. Boys and girls will delight in the clear, colorful illustrations that show a happy family (extended family), connected to their community.

Both English and Spanish text appears on each page, inspiring bilingual diversity at tender ages.

Three-year-old Amy enjoys seeing her cousin Mikel, play his trumpet in a marching band at the community football game. Amy watches the band and the cheers from the crowd, because she is proud of her cousin.

Uncle Dale and Cousin Mikel take time to play with Amy. They make her laugh and cry out in childish glee, as she repeats “Do It Again”.

This is a great bedtime story, and perfect for adults, teachers, family, church, community leaders to share with and provide for children who are learning to read and those in the early grades.

Whether the child can read the story for themselves, or an adult reads along with them, the story will bring a sense of happiness, as each child learns about three-year-old Amy. Boys and girls can relate to the excitement, and wonderful time that Amy has while visiting her Aunt and Uncle.

This book instills a sense of positive, secure, playful, experience with tween, teens and adult family members with the child reading the story and/or the adult sharing this book with a child.

Award Winning Bilingual Children’s Author Ann Morris is a professional translator of English and Spanish. Ann has been to Ghana more than once. The first time she read “Do it Again! ¡Otra Vez!” to several classrooms in the old school. Ann has deep respect and a need share cultures and languages.

She writes this engaging story for both boys and girls. She doesn’t oversimplify her words or talk over their heads. This book is a great balance of English and Spanish, vocabulary and phrases, some repetition, with a perfectly paced story.

I recommend this book for classroom reading in English and Spanish. Great for all types of community, church, and school libraries.

Everything is Different by Ann Morris

Brett and his dad visit England in the United Kingdom.

Brett observes many things new to him. His dad patiently explains why different things work where they are, and that Brett should not be alarmed.

Brett learns that different does not mean wrong and enjoys his experience, including a visit to a castle.

5 Star Review: Everything Is Different by Ann Morris brings a unique reading experience to boys and girls. Ann uses her own trip to England to teach children about the world beyond their borders.

Illustrator Melissa Wright does a fantastic job with the colorful, vivid pictures that take the reader to England with main character Brett and his dad.

From page one, both a child or adult reading to a child can see a loving relationship between Brett and his dad.

In simple language the story unfolds, showing the natural innocence and curiosity of a child. Like most children, Brett is full of questions from the time they are in the air to the time when they return home to his mom and little sister.

Through the story Brett asks his dad questions, and his dad uses the trip to educate Brett. This encourages the reader to ask questions for themselves and reminds adults not to stifle a child’s natural desire to learn about the world around them.

From flying through the clouds, landing at the airport, taking a taxi, visiting Bolsover Castle, exploring about the castle from his laptop, learning about the knights and their armor, visiting an English pub, picking out special souvenirs to take home to his mom and Amy, learning about new foods and cultural differences, like driving on the other side of the road.

Share Brett’s learning experience and his special trip with his dad with all boys and girls ages 4-8. Their eyes will light up as they read for themselves or an adult shares the reading experience with them. Their imagination will soar as they learn more about taking a trip and exploring new places.

Ann has been to Ghana more than once, where English is the national language, although not the native language. She has deep respect for and a need to share about cultures and languages.

There is a Spanish version of this book titled Todo es distinto by Ana Morris.

I recommend this book for classroom reading in English and Spanish. Great for all types of community, church, and school libraries.

Mommy and Mikel Go for a Walk by Ann Morris

Mommy and Mikel find rare time to spend together. Mommy suggests going for a walk, and Mikel loves the idea. On the walk there are natural teaching moments, as Mikel is curious and asks about everything he sees. Mommy patiently guides him and cautions him when his enthusiasm would let him leap before he looks.

This is experience is not only for the learning from Mikel’s curiosity, but because Mikel discovers a mystery animal. In order to learn what the animal is, Mommy takes him to the library and shows him how to find the animal using the resources available. Success! Both are happy and Mikel has learned some lessons in caution.

About The Author: This was Ann (Ana) Morris’ first published children’s book. It practically wrote itself, as it is a true account of a walk she and Mikel took before computers. The story is one that both have always remembered and cherished. When Mikel read the book, he laughed and remembered the day.

5 Star Review: Mommy and Mikel Go for a Walk by Ann Morris shows the natural curiosity that children have, as Mikel and his Mommy go for a walk.

This story, like all of Ann’s books, show what a loving, safe, engaging relationship between a child and adult should look like. Ann teaches adults and children alike. This book is dedicated to her own son Mikel and their own relationship.

Colorful illustrations by Blythe Russo depict the walk that Mikel and his Mommy take. Each boy and girl reading this book with enjoy this outdoor adventure and hopefully can relate it to a walk that they have taken with a trusted adult.

At first, like most children, Mikel crosses his arms when his mother suggests he puts on his coat and go for a walk with her. Most of us adults can recall similar struggles getting the children that we love to put on their coat and shoes. Simply put the book shows trust being built between Mikel and his Mommy.

On their walk, Mikel get to ask questions and experience nature on his own block. Educational experiences along the walk, from learning from his mother their Iowa State bird is a goldfinch, to flowers that look so happy, leaves that are dangerous to touch, and making simple decisions, like which path to take. At the river the mystery begins as Mikel and his Mommy must learn about the animal swimming near a log in the water. Mikel learns about the dangers of a riverbank. After their walk, Mikel and his Mommy get in the car and head to the library. There is still the mystery of the animal in the water to solve.

This book children and reminds adults that education is a never-ending process and the lessons learned between a child and an adult are building blocks that last a lifetime.

One day Mommy and Mikel went for a walk.

Mikel watched and was curious about everything.

When he spotted a mystery animal, he and Mommy went to the library to learn what it was.

This is a story of young discovery, hands-on parenting and learning.

Review: What a sweet story. I really like how Ann has taken an experience we all have had (a walk through the woods) and turned it into a teaching moment. I also loved how she weaved into the story how Mikel could trust his mommy. A nice addition to any child’s personal library. Review by Karen Best Wright: Author, I Love you from the Edges: Lessons from Raising Grandchildren

Review: The story was more than just taking a walk with your mom, it was seeing things out in the world and then wanting to learn from them. It was a great story for any child who loves picture books and animals. The story shows that we learn from just exploring our world, and asking questions. When we don’t know the answers, we strive to find our answers and learn. A wonderful story. Recommend it to any child, even those who can only look at the pictures. Surprise In Auntie’s Garden! by Ann Morris

Surprise in Auntie’s Garden!/¡Sorpresa en el jardín de la tía! is Ms Morris’ most recent publication. The digital illustrations are by Heather Varkarotas, a children’s author in her own right. Auntie ̣(the author) and her niece Erin spend much time observing Auntie’s flower garden. One day, Erin discovers a colorful “worm” in the garden, which turns out to be a Monarch caterpillar. Auntie shows Erin how to use the Internet to learn what the caterpillar is and to see it’s life cycle. It is a book of discovery, of learning, of beauty, of adult-child bonding, and of learning how to find information.

From The Author: I love writing stories based on true experiences with family members. Sometimes poetic liberties are taken, but the essence of the story is true. I consider the books to be a contribution to education, to parenting and adult role-modeling, to “teaching moments”, and to cherished memories I have of loved ones.

Surprise in Auntie’s Garden began as a book about Erin and Auntie (me) spending time in the garden. But as nothing notable “happened”, I added the caterpillar, which fit well and gave me the opportunity to present information studied in the elementary school curriculum. I have read the book to school students, adults, and senior centers, and it is enjoyed by all. One school experience was captured on a major state television network, and that treasure has been shared.

This book was honored by the Mom’s Choice Awards for both the English and Spanish versions and has earned me more credibility and exposure as an educational author.

5 Star Review: Surprise In Auntie’s Garden! by Ann Morris is dedicated to Ann’s parents, as they encouraged her to teach and write. It is apparent in all Ann’s books, her stories come from the examples that her parents set, and a lifetime of travel, and experiences with her own children and grandchildren.

The beautiful, realistic illustrations by Heather Varkarotas bring a Spanish theme to the book.

This is a heartwarming story is about a loving, secure relationship between Erin and her Aunt. The story takes place in her Aunt’s garden. Erin’s Aunt used her garden, since Erin was a baby, to calm her fears and frustrations and bring a sense of beauty and peace into their lives.

This book reflects the truth that children, like Erin will learn to love flowers and appreciate all the garden bugs and insects, if given the opportunity from a young age. Erin’s natural curiosity is aroused as she explores her Aunt’s beautiful garden, and even contribute an angel to stand watch in the garden.

Erin’s curiosity about the garden leads from outside to her Aunt’s office, where they use the computer to look up and learn more about the garden worms, milkweed, caterpillars, and the amazing life of Monarch butterflies.

Children will wonder at the images on each page. Their curiosity will be peaked, and they too will want to explore a flower garden near them. This book teaches respect for the environment around us, and an appreciate for all life. The smiles and hugs between Erin and her Aunt are infectious.

Lexi’s Special Tooth Fairy Pillow (Bilingual)
Coming Soon

5 Star Review: Lexi’s Special Tooth Fairy Pillow by Ann Morris is a delightful bilingual children’s book. Both English and Spanish text appears on each page, inspiring bilingual diversity at tender ages.

The book is dedicated to Ann’s granddaughter Catie, and to all young children “losing their teeth who believe in magic and miracles”.

Precious, colorful illustrations by Agus Prajogo highlight each page, which will keep a child engaged.

The book centers around Lexi’s family going to visit Grandpa and Grandma. All Ann’s both teach loving, safe, respectful, long lasting relationship between children and the adults in their lives.

Lexi’s Grandma listens carefully as Lexi expresses concern that the tooth fairy won’t be able to find her if her lose tooth falls out while away from home. Lexi left her very special Fairy Pillow at home. This pillow has a special pocket where Lexi can put her tooth when it falls out, to ensure the tooth fairy finds it in the dark.

Lexi’s grandmother realizes that she must take action, because Lexis tooth is very loose. She goes to the store and buys a beautiful blue heart pillow with two daisies on it. She goes to her sewing room and finds just the right piece of cloth, cuts out a heart shape and sews it in the center of the pillow, leaving a pocket for Lexi’s tooth.

Just in time, while the kids play, the tooth falls out. Grandma saves the day when she shows Lexi her new Tooth Fairy Pillow. With a big hug, off to bed Lexi goes. In the morning Lexi shows her excitement as she shows her Grandmother what the Tooth Fairy left in the pocket of her pillow.

This book shows the strong trusting bonds that can and should be built between children and the adults in their lives.

Children will read this and want to create a Fairy Pillow of their own, which will lead to a great arts and crafts project.
