Dammi Mille Baci: Vienna Calling by Hyunah Kim.
Contemporary Romance (set in beautiful Vienna, Austria).
I met Axel, a mysterious, beautiful young artist in Vienna. As he led me to discover the city: a beautiful European capital with rich culture and art, this incredible encounter changed my life forever.
As an artist, he portrayed human weaknesses and frailties. What is art? How does one become an artist? But when his veiled childhood suffering prevented him from getting close to me, I found myself in turmoil and desperation. Would he ever open himself up to me?
In the midst of unanswered questions, I discovered the thief who stole Axel’s painting was right under my nose, and I decided to take justice into my own hands. But even so, would Axel ever accept my heart?
A contemporary romance set in beautiful Vienna, Austria, ‘Dammi Mille Baci’ is the first novel in Hyunah Kim’s Vienna Calling series.
Message From Author: Vienna Calling is based on a true story that happened to me when I lived in Vienna a long time ago. It is a story that I had buried deep inside of me. Had it not been for the pandemic and the death of my father thrown at me in the middle of it, I would not have written the story. When my father passed away, and I couldn’t even attend his funeral, I suffered a period of depression, and it opened a scar, an old wound that I could never get over, even after all these years. And that was it.
I started writing about my encounter with a mysterious young artist I had met in Vienna and how it had positively changed and influenced my life.
What is art? How does one become an artist? Those are among the questions I asked in my story. I found it strangely therapeutic to write this story, and I want to share it with you. It will be my greatest pleasure to see people read my book and share my ideologies. Although it is based on true events, I got liberal with a few details and let my imagination carry me away. I made it my mission to make the story compelling. After all, I can’t have my readers bored for the sake of realism, can I?
Since this happened in the culturally rich and diverse Austrian capital, you will uniquely discover Vienna through my eyes and memories. The story also reflects the multi-cultural aspects of Europe, with its different languages. I hope the translations to the languages I used aren’t too limited, but I’m sure you’ll find it quite easy to understand. You may even end up practising a new foreign language! Thank you all so much.
Review by Karrie-VINE VOICE: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. A love story set in Vienna! Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2023. Verified Purchase. From my own point of view, there are essential factors that make up an excellent novel. They include coherence, presentation, character description, and the direction of the story. So far, Hyunah Kim has shown that she has all it takes to remain relevant as an author for many years. Dammi Mille Baci is her literary debut and serves as her entry point into the literary world.
The book is more of a memoir of the author and follows her life as a young artist and also a fashion designer and her trip to Vienna. One of the factors that make this novel an excellent one is Kim’s interesting scenes. Besides, she also spices up the novel with plenty of foreign phrases, which she did not leave unexplained. Going through the pages of this novel is like walking on the streets of Australia.
In this first issue of what will be followed by others in the series, Kim took the time to create and set up her characters. The author delves into an extensive description of Axel, one of the most amazing fellows she came across in Vienna. A romance quickly began to ensue; however, Axel has some reservations about falling in love and romance. If you are a fan of romance mysteries, you will also fall in love with this book.

Dammi Mille Baci by Hyunah Kim is the first novel in the Vienna Calling series. A sweet contemporary romance set in beautiful Vienna, Austria, tells the story of two young lovers who unexpectedly fall in love. I loved the fact that although this journal is based on true events, the author got liberal with some details from her imagination. I enjoyed reading this book very much. The plot is nicely developed all along the pages and has some great unexpected twists. The descriptions helped me picture each scene perfectly and the language chosen by the author made each dialogue rich. I will recommend this novel to many of my reading mates, I’m sure they will enjoy it as much as I did.
Review by KMB13: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. A Sweet Contemporary Romance! Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2023. Verified Purchase. I recently read Hyunah Kim’s Dammi Mille Baci (Vienna Calling Book 1), a sweet contemporary romance set in Vienna. This is the first book in Kim’s series, and it introduces us to the city and its many hidden charms.
The author does a great job creating vivid, lovable characters who will appear in subsequent books in the Vienna Calling series. It’s a story of two star-crossed lovers from different social classes, who must find a way to be together. As the story progresses, we watch them navigate the complexities of their relationship, while also dealing with cultural obstacles and family expectations.
Kim’s writing is captivating and her descriptions of Vienna are very immersive. She gives us a glimpse into Viennese culture, including its nightlife, monuments, and cafes. Overall, I highly recommend Dammi Mille Baci (Vienna Calling Book 1). Kim tells a beautiful story of love and identity set in a city that will captivate readers. I look forward to reading the rest of the series!
Review by Ashley: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Passionate romance! Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2023. Verified Purchase. Dammi Mille Baci is the first book in the Vienna Calling series by Hyunah Kim. The story is told in a 1st person point of view, as if Kim was writing her own fantasy. Our heroine meets the charming Axel after moving to Vienna. Although there were some romance clichés like meeting in a moment of anger (as Axel is in hunt of an art thief) and being whisked away on the back of a motorcycle, the author uses beautiful prose to do so. Possibly not the most realistic romance, with little buildup to the main characters’ attraction, but it’s definitely one we all want if we ever visit Vienna.
