Crime Novelist Alan Brenham.

Cornered by Alan Brenham.
He’s haunted by the memory of a kidnapping case gone wrong…
Not wanting history to repeat itself, Detective Matt Brady struggles to solve the disappearances of seven young women, but he quickly finds himself pitted against a criminal organization that knows as much about police procedure as he does–an organization that will do whatever it takes to stay one step ahead of him.
His troubles are compounded when a young veterinarian injects herself into the investigation and is targeted to become victim number eight.
When he tries to protect her, he finds himself in the crosshairs of a professional cop killer. Can Brady solve the case in time to save his new love, or will this investigation be the death of both of them?
Review by John J. Staughton: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Thrilling from Start to Finish – Don’t Miss This One!
…You can always tell when a writer knows his subject matter in a deep and meaningful way. There is a certain quality in the phrasing, an honesty in the tension, and (when the stars align) brilliance in the overall product. Brenham made it clear that not only is he vastly knowledgeable about criminality, the legal system, police procedure, and criminal organizations, but he is also a clever and creative author who knows how to convince a reader to fall for a character right before putting them in harm’s way. I was riveted by this novel, and although it is the first, I have read from Brenham, I’ll certainly be checking out the others.
…The only thing I found a bit implausible were a few loosely tied together plot details that seemed to sloppily be wrapped up, but they were hardly consequential, and didn’t keep me from ripping through these pages in less than a week. Brady makes for a killer protagonist, and seeing him facing up against open-faced evil and cruelty was emotionally exhausting. I wasn’t a huge fan of Tracy, although she had a few redeeming moments; their entire connection seemed slightly contrived, whereas his emotions regarding his past were so visceral and believable.
…Anyways, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to be thrilled into reading for a whole night straight, and then waking up a little bit sad that you reached the end. Nicely done, Mr. Brenham – this is a real hit!

Review by Monica LaSarre, Author: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Austin crime fighting has a new hero (and I’ve discovered a new genre!)
…Before I gush about this book, I have to set the record straight: this book was The First crime novel I’ve ever read. Thanks to Mr. Brenham’s stellar book, I am a new fan of crime fiction. Not only was this book a great read, Mr. Brenham helped me discover an exciting genre that I will definitely read more of in the future. So, on a personal and heartfelt note, thanks for exposing me to something new, Mr. Brenham!
…So, let’s move on to my review of this book. Let me tell you about the elements included in this book that really worked well for the story. There were characters I could relate to, who grabbed my heart at their first introduction and didn’t let go even when the story ended. There was a story line I could relate to and characters who reacted to their circumstances in ways I could relate to (no spoilers here, but let’s just say that if my child were ever raped and killed, “vigilante” would be my new middle name). I loved that bad guys got the proverbial “what was comin’ to ’em” and that cops weren’t portrayed as perfect, because we all know they aren’t. The story was paced well: at a steady clip, with a few sharp turns and a satisfying abrupt landing at the end, at which point I finally remembered to breathe (reminded me of a thrilling sledding adventure I had recently). Mr. Brenham’s expertise in justice, law, and the criminal mind were evident. He knows his stuff and the story was completely authentic from that standpoint.
…I look forward to more from this author and I also would relish seeing this storyline serialized. I would really enjoy seeing more of Jason and Dani.
…As a life-long reader, I have to say my favorite thing about books is their ability to help us see a different side of a situation or relationship, perhaps an angle we wouldn’t normally explore on our own because of our own individual preferences and prejudices. Critique I’ve read about Price of Justice includes reader dissatisfaction with the speed at which Jason and Dani were attracted to each other, relative to how long it had been since Jason was widowed. To that I would reply: yes, it’s unlikely, but it happens. Love works at its own pace. I like that I got to think about that truth because of Mr. Brenham’s story.
…Thank you, Mr. Brenham, for not only an exciting introduction to a new genre, but for a highly entertaining read which kept me interested and on the edge of my seat for the entire wild ride. Well done, and let us hear more from your pen soon!

Rampage by Alan Brenham.
A Jason Scarsdale Novel (Jason Scarsdale Mysteries).
The stakes soar, both professionally and personally, for Austin PD Detective Jason Scarsdale as he finds himself in a race against time to hunt down a vicious gang hell-bent on murder. Realizing that his new partner, the attractive divorcee Tatum Harper, could be trouble in more ways than one, he tries to run her out of Homicide.
Will their partnership destroy his romantic relationship with long-time girlfriend Dani Mueller?
Will they both survive the harrowing face-off with the increasingly unhinged gang leader?
Review by mint tea: 5.0 out of 5 Stars.
…Grade A detective novel! This book is a great crime novel. It reads much like a good spree movie. Scarsdale, who is a detective in Austin, finds himself in a very complicated murder investigation.
…Worse than that, he has a new partner, and she is an attractive woman. I really liked the story and the action-packed chase that the suspects were pursuing with each other, as well as the chase that the detectives went on to find the killers.
…I also liked the characters Scarsdale and Shannon, but I didn’t understand why he didn’t want to give his partner a chance at the beginning. He wanted to immediately change her and then ended up really liking her.
…The ending of the book was a bit funny because it seems like he cleaned up one mess just to get into another, so it will be interesting to see what is written in the next installment in his life. I would recommend reading this title if you enjoy detective novels.
