Review by N. N. Light: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. The world-building truly takes this book to an epic level. Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2023. Whoa, this science fiction book has me fearing the future. If everything written here really happens, I don’t know if we’ll survive. The author takes us into the not-too-distant future where scores of people are suffering from brain injuries. What happens next is mind-blowing. Talk about a book I couldn’t stop reading.

The world-building truly takes this book to an epic level. It blends classic scifi and dystopian which I loved. The author creates a world that is eerily familiar yet unknown. Every aspect of the setting is brilliant.

The characters are well-written and relatable. I found myself engrossed in their lives and what they’re going through. The narration really brings home the idea of human evolution and the consequences it brings. I connected with the characters. So well done.

The author writes with purpose and weaves a story worth contemplating. He takes modern news headlines and flips it on its head. I read late into the night and whenever I got a chance. Addictive? Yes. Creepy? Yes. A treatise on humanity today? Definitely!

If you’re looking for an original story, pick up Quantum Crystal. It’ll make you think twice about where big pharma is taking humanity.

Traveller Series by Rob Shackleford

Traveller Inceptio by Rob Shackleford.

Traveller Series Book One.

If you were sent 1000 years into the past, would you survive?

Traveller – Inceptio describes how the Transporter is accidentally invented and becomes public knowledge when it sends a subject 1000 years into the past.

A Special Forces team of Travellers is then selected and trained with the intent to send them to Saxon England to explore what could be a very dangerous period of history.

From the beaches of Australia to the forests of Saxon England, Traveller – Inceptio reveals how Travellers discover they need a lot more than technology to survive the trials of early Eleventh Century life.

Review by Elle Alouette: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Excellent book! Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2019. Verified Purchase. A clever mix of time travel, historical fiction and Sci-Fi with a little romance nicely thrown in, I found this book exceptionally good. Traveler Inceptio is a tale of a Special Forces team which is selected and sent into the past 1000 years ago to Saxon England by means of the “Transporter,” which is unintentionally invented. The team has been well trained; however, they are not prepared to face the danger and life of the 11th century and all of what that time and place in history holds for them. Being in this unfamiliar dangerous period of history, without the technology to help them, how will they manage to live and fight the trouble that comes their way and survive? Eventually the Travellers begin to adapt to the way of living and surviving in the 11th century Saxon England environment. Traveller Inceptio then becomes very interesting and engaging. I felt transported to a different time and place, picturing the entire scene, through Rob Shackleford’s well researched, detailed writing and knowledge of the history of 11th century, England. The author cleverly weaves three storylines into the plot which are connected perfectly and easy to follow along. I loved everything about Traveller Inceptio, with all of its action and adventure. The character development is strong and I felt well connected to them as they are an integral part of the believable storyline. The unbelievable situations they go through and overcome makes them shine and stand out. The shifting between the present and the past is written so well and narrated perfectly with the detail of the time travel aspect being the central focus of this amazing novel. I had a fun lesson in history, as well. This was an enjoyable read and Rob Shackleford’s writing style is clever and creative, drawing me in from start to finish. I am looking forward to the next book in the Traveler Inceptio series written by this remarkable author, Rob Shackleford.

Review by Turning Another Page: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Traveller Inceptio. Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2020. If someone created a time machine, how would that affect you? How would that affect our history or our future? Depending on how it worked, would you sign up to participate in the time travel if you could? It is not strange to hear that for some, they feel like they were born in the wrong generation. Something like this could be big, possibly even cataclysmic! Time travel isn’t anything new and neither are transporters, but the creation of this one in Traveller Inceptio is purely founded by accident and Shackleford brings creativity and unique attention to detail which readers will relish.

A group of researchers are working toward their deadline of a new and innovative product, but what they create is far from what they intended. A transporter sends one of the researchers back one-thousand years in the past. Once the public finds out about the incredible discovery, the media, historians, and the military flock to the site with interest. It is only too soon before the military is sending an undercover scout into Aengland, where the villagers are ever fearful of an oncoming war with the Vikings. Several months of feed is transmitted back to present day with footage and journals while the scouts immerse themselves in the villagers’ everyday life. Believed to be a gift from God, the villagers accept Hunter AKA Michael, and share their homes, their food, their religion, and even their love. Overtime, Hunter knows that he must go back to his time, but with his growing fondness of a certain female villager and the Vikings coming closer, he lets his emotions get the best of him. He can’t abandon them now. Leaving would definitely mean certain and immanent death for all of them, but staying could mean his life too. Being faced with difficult decisions, he has to pull off a miracle in order to save them and figure out what his destiny holds.

Shackleford has a long and entertaining first installment readers will ravage through like a whirlwind. The author has created an entertaining and thought-provoking story-line with originality, creativity, and well-developed characters. The pace leading up to the invention is a bit slow, but after the transporter has been built, the pages seem to fly by quickly. This may have been the author’s intention, but if not, the pace should not hinder the reader in any way. This story is also very well-written, with little to no grammatical or spellings errors. The detail in which Shackleford provides is superb and allows the reader to feel like they are traveling alongside Michael. For being such a lengthy read, this is an amazing and challenging feat. If you are a reader of science fiction, historical fiction, and time travel, you may enjoy this first installment.

Traveller Probo by Rob Shackleford.

Traveller Series Book Two.

Traveller Probo is the second book in the Traveller Series.

Would you survive if sent one-thousand years into the past?

Development of the Transporter saw highly trained researchers, called Travellers, successfully sent one-thousand years back in time to early medieval Saxon England.

Traveller Missions now means enormous national prestige and the recovery of priceless lost artefacts and knowledge, so nations vie for the use of the Transporter and more daring Traveller missions are planned. Politics and power soon come into play.

To study lost peoples and civilisations, Special Forces researchers have to be even better trained, equipped and prepared to put their lives on the line.

While Michael Hunter continues to build a life in Saxon England, the tragically injured Tony Osborne finds his resurgence in a mission to ancient Byzantine Turkey, a mission Professor Adrian Taylor joins to better outmanoeuvre his calculating academic colleagues.

From the misty shores of New Zealand to the shining splendour of the ancient Byzantine Empire, it is proved how sending modern researchers into the past carries enormous rewards and tragedies.

Review by N. N. Light: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. A brilliant book that easily draws in a reader… Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2021. A tour de force in time travel fiction. Incredibly detailed, the author has a keen eye for creating imagery. If an avid fan of time travel, then this book is for you as it will transport you to the past.

If you are a new reader, you will be captivated by New Zealand. The complications that happen in New Zealand take this story into a fresh new turn. The scenes are gripping, realistic and simply draw the reader in.

The portrayal of special forces members shows the author has a good appreciation of this special group. The training illustrated for the would-be travellers rings true with accuracy. The continued use of the media’s view helps keep the book grounded. You get a real-world feel for this series with tv and radio personalities involved.

A brilliantly written book that easily draws in a reader. It wasn’t long before I was dreaming about scenes from this book as I read it. The powerful writing simply imbues a reader’s soul.

The book brings to the forefront an important ethical question that is valid today. When is it okay for people of ‘superior’ ways to help those who have ‘less’? In this book, it is the context of the present and past. In our world, it has been the question generally of western civilization and local populations. How does one objectively rate the impact of ‘oh we can help them’ in terms of today? Each reader can grapple with these ethics in their own way. This book does a lovely job of highlighting this contentious theme.

One can’t help but admire the moral and ethical nature of Hunter. The international intrigue and suspense in the 21st century keep this book also with a foot in the present. Recommended to fans of the original book. Recommended to all lovers of the time travel genre. This book will have wide appeal and should be a bestseller.

Review by Anthony Avina: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Epic And Thrilling Dive Into History and Action: A MUST READ! Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2021. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was such an adventurous and thought-provoking follow-up to the author’s equally exciting first book in the sci-fi series, Travellers. The world-building and character development the author employs here is masterful, as the time-travel element allows readers to experience both the present-day individuals going back to study these ancient civilizations and the historical figures who encounter these strange individuals. The action kicks off from the get-go, with a mission to New Zealand’s past taking a bloody turn, and the balance the author finds with the political and social intrigue of the present with the action and history of the past was so amazing to read.

The attention to detail and imagery the author uses throughout this narrative was so vibrant and engaging that it felt almost cinematic in quality. I could easily picture this as either an ensemble cast film or streaming series, exploring these vast sets and time periods while employing a unique sci-fi twist that will keep readers engaged throughout the narrative. The themes of morality and western civilization’s mindset that superior technology, intellect, and resources give them the right to change or dictate how others operate and live their lives was felt in every chapter of this narrative and kept readers’ minds active as well entertained.

A brilliant, gripping, and heart-pounding historical fiction and sci-fi read, author Rob Shackleford’s “Traveller Probo” is a must-read novel. The intrigue and mystery of the growing missions and the back-room dealings surrounding the Traveller tech will keep readers on the edge of their seat, and the shocking cliff-hanger endings for both established and new characters alike and their missions will have readers eager to devour the next chapter in this epic series.

Traveller Manifesto by Rob Shackleford.

Traveller Series Book Three: The explosive final sequel to Traveller Inceptio and Traveller Probo.

To use the enigmatic Transporter and send Special Forces trained Researchers back a thousand years is now the biggest game in world politics.

But not only politics, as academics scramble to outdo each other and harness prestige in the increasingly influential field of History.

As Professor Taylor is rescued from Byzantine Rome, a heavily-armed US Traveller team explores Mississippian Cahokia to experience a situation beyond even their control. Michael Hunter and Tatae flee Giolgrave in the hope of finding safety from modern interference. But at a terrible cost.

And something seems to be happening in Israel, resulting in the creation of a high-profile investigation team to uncover if there is a clandestine Traveller mission operated by the US and Israel.

From the windswept mountains of Wales, to the hills of Cahokia and the dusty wadis of the Negev, researchers find that to visit the past may not necessarily provide the answers they seek.

Review by Anthony Avina: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. Historical Fiction Meets Sci-Fi In A Gripping Thriller…A MUST READ! Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was such a compelling and monumental narrative for fans of this sci-fi and historical fiction thriller series. The way the author elevated the narrative of this series by taking the hinted at black-ops level military operations being taken out in various historical periods using the technology, and increasing this tenfold as not only does the military hunt down one of the Traveller programs former operatives, but attempt to utilize the technology illegally to further their own interests, really does a great job of mirroring events using technology or discoveries of our own world, and how government bodies often will claim “national security” to further their own attempts at seizing more power and control. This added an increased level of intrigue and suspense as this impacted several of the main cast of characters throughout their various Traveller missions.

What always strikes me about this series and the author is the vast amount of detail the author puts into the series. From both a historical and a narrative standpoint, the author explores not only the sci-fi side of the series from the use of the Traveller technology, but the historical fiction side of each period of time these missions take on with an attention to detail that creates a sense of imagery and tone that bursts with life and vibrancy. The exploration of history’s impact on our world and the means by which the direction that history takes is often dictated by those who emerge victorious from a situation made this story feel so thought-provoking, and readers won’t be able to help being drawn down the rabbit hole that is this heart-pounding historical fiction thriller.

A gripping, intense, and richly diverse historical fiction thriller and sci-fi tale, author Rob Shackleford’s “Traveller Manifesto” is a must-read novel and the perfect historical fiction read to finish out 2021 with. The rich cast of characters and detailed settings bring together a beautiful yet dangerous world of the past and present and the dramatic final chapters lead to a shocking loss and an open-ended finale that leaves plenty of room for more stories to be told in the future.

Review by N. N. Light: 5.0 out of 5 Stars. The action is fast-paced and intense. Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2022. What has to be the highly anticipated third phase of this series is finally here. The reader has no trouble catching up with the story. The author presents a summary of the first two seamlessly. Without even noticing it, a reader is up to date and ready to dive into this book.

Here, the stakes in this transporter game are bigger than ever. It is one thing to study history but another to potentially rewrite it. That this could occur with both military and government powers concerned brings brinkmanship to a new level.

The action is fast-paced and intense. You literally never know what will happen once a team jumps through that ‘rabbit hole’. The intrigue and suspense are heavy. A book that will simply captivate the many fans of this series. Recommended to all fans of this series. Recommended to all fans of time travel books. Recommended to everyone who enjoys conspiracy books.
