Chrissie and the Crust Monster by Amy Van Duyn

Chrissie Carpenter didn’t like crust. In fact, she never ate it.

She would always leave the crust on her plate.

Her parents threw it out, but what happened to it once it was out there in the back alley, all alone?

My Secret, Magic Friend by Amy Van Duyn

On this cold day, everyone is too busy to play with the youngest and littlest.

Bored and tired of feeling left out, the child is surprised when a giant crow appears and takes them on an adventure.

This story is written and illustrated from the child’s point-of-view and shows us that we can do anything we want to do, simply by pretending and using our imagination.

From The Author: Any child, from the youngest, to the oldest of many, or even an only child, can sometimes feel lonely or may simply feel bored.

My Secret, Magic Friend comes from deep within my heart.  I’ve always treasured stories where the child experiences some special journey that’s meant just for them.

I requested that this book be illustrated from the child’s point-of-view so that any child can picture themselves in the story without an illustration to represent them.

I hope this story will help children learn that their own imagination is their key to their own magical adventure.

About The Author: Amy Van Duyn is the Author of “Chrissie and the Crust Monster” and “My Secret, Magic Friend”. Amy wants to help change the world and the best way she knows how is by helping children. Her goal as a writer is to create books that will make kids feel good about themselves or provide a sweet story to be shared with a loved one during those sacred moments before bedtime when snuggled up together, book in hands. Being young-at-heart, the stories come naturally to her. She still gets excited to find the “monster” at the end of the book!

Reading has always been important to Amy. She began writing poetry at a very young age, it created a foundation for a future writing career. It wasn’t until she began sharing her writing in her hometown’s annual poetry contest that she would start to think that maybe her dream really could come true.

When she’s not spending time with her family and friends, writing, working, or reading, she enjoys hidden object puzzle-solving computer games, coloring books for grown-ups, eating chocolate, and soaking in a hot bubble bath.
